Waiheke Retreat has its own private beach accessible by steps from the property. There are private coves for sunbathing, swimming and hanging out on a deserted beach that nobody can get to but you. It has an overhanging tree that you can sit under, negating the need for a sun umbrella. All you have to do is take a towel and a book. The sea is like a cleanse; you’ll feel refreshed, regenerated, and invigorated after swimming in the private cove.
Where the inside welcomes the out
Back at the house, it’s like living in an outdoor room. The walls are made of windows, and they can all slide back so that you’ve simply got a roof over your head.
You can wake up in the morning and completely peel back the two walls of the master bedroom - it’s like the bed is then outside, and your environment has just joined you in the bedroom. Make a coffee on the espresso machine, and jump back into bed to caffeinate the day.
By night, light the outdoor fire and put your favourite music on the outdoor speakers, grab some wine and create a cheese platter, absolute bliss.
Explore your surrounding paradise
Relax in the cliff-top spa pool and look down to the rocks below. Here you can silently witness dolphins, kingfish and Oyster Catchers just going about their daily business. You can so easily sit here for hours looking at sunsets and guessing constellations.
A must do is the coastal walk that runs off the property. The scenery is spectacular and it forces you to be present.
