Framed by the Remutaka Ranges to the West and the ruggedly beautiful Palliser Bay to the East, the Lodge is home to ancient native forest, spectacular black sand beaches, and 5,000 Romney sheep.
Dotted around the main lodge are 16 Cottage Suites and 1 three-bedroom villa, that makes the lodge the hub for all things dining and social. You will also find a full day spa, heated indoor pool, and fitness centre in the main complex. Hospitality has been in Wharekauhau veins since the 1840s and they pride themselves on relaxed professional hospitality, and a true farm to table concept. The wine programme is one of the strongest in New Zealand with the private owner also owning 5 vineyards in New Zealand and a local gin distillery.
The property acts as its own activities outfitter with onsite guides ready to take you ATV quad biking, touring Wharekauhau working sheep station, sporting clay shooting, visiting local vineyards of Martinborough, e-biking, as well as the more relaxing spa treatments, and wine/gin tasting.
