Experience the Magic of Mt Cook Lakeside Retreat

Nestled on the picturesque shores of Lake Pukaki, Mt Cook Lakeside Retreat offers a sanctuary for relaxation and a gateway to the natural wonders of the Mackenzie Country. This idyllic retreat features two types of luxurious villas: Moraine Villas and the Ashley Mackenzie Villa.

The Villas

Each villa comes with a private hot tub or spa, cooked breakfast, a complimentary bottle of bubbles, a selection of beer and spirits, and a fresh fruit bowl. To top it all off, marshmallows are provided for a cozy evening by the fire. The Ashley Mackenzie Villa, the more premium option, goes above and beyond with a workout room, massage room, and private sauna.

Each villa includes two bedrooms, accommodating up to four people. The bedrooms feature high wooden ceilings, abundant natural light, and incredibly comfortable beds. Both bedrooms open onto private patios with superb alpine views and come with spacious ensuite bathrooms, complete with large windows showcasing the phenomenal scenery.

Step into the Moraine Villa and you’re greeted by a grand central drawing room with floor-to-ceiling windows, high wooden ceilings, and Italian sandstone flooring. Comfortable couches invite you to relax while taking in breathtaking lake views by the massive, ready-to-go fireplace.

Stargazing at Pukaki Observatory

What truly sets this lodge apart is the Pukaki Observatory. Situated within an International Dark Sky Reserve, it offers one of the best stargazing experiences in the world. Guests can marvel at the night sky with an experienced astronomer guiding the way, making the stars feel close enough to touch.

Dining Delights

A highlight of your stay will undoubtedly be the chef-prepared dinner. The six-course meal is a culinary journey, starting with smoked salmon tartare and freshly-baked bread and butter. The main courses, venison and lamb, are paired with fresh vegetables and a variety of sauces, and the meal concludes with a decadent chocolate and caramel mousse. By the end, you’ll be happily stuffed and utterly satisfied.
